I’m excited to announce the release of a brand-new 48x48 Boss Character — the Forest Golem, a massive four-legged nature guardian designed to bring serious presence to your platformer or adventure game.

This is one of my most detailed sprites so far, created to feel like a real boss fight with cinematic animations and strong visual impact.

🪨 What’s New

This golem comes with a full set of boss-level animations:

• 🌿 Encounter intro – perfect for entering the arena

• 🗣️ Roar – adds weight and personality to the fight

• 🔨 Slam attack – a heavy, earth-shattering ground smash

• 🐾 Walk cycle – slow, heavy, four-legged motion

• 💤 Idle – subtle breathing and shifting

• 💢 Hurt – reacts to hits

• 🪦 Death – dramatic crumble

And to make the slam attack feel even better, the pack includes a free stalagmite effect you can spawn from the ground during the attack. It fits the animation and makes the fight feel more dynamic.

🎨 Design Notes

I wanted this boss to feel like a creature formed by the forest itself — stone, moss, vines, and ancient life all fused together.
The animations were drawn to feel heavy, massive, and alive, especially the slam and roar.

The 48x48 size allows for more detail while staying consistent with retro pixel-art styles.

📈 Why I Made This

Many of my previous characters are 16x16 enemies or player characters, so I wanted to start expanding the world with larger bosses and more complex creatures.
This Forest Golem is the first step toward a full set of bosses players can use to build complete levels or dungeons.
